Curled Cutie In the Limelight D!!!!

You guys should recognize this beauty from Untrained Hair Mom Thats right this is D she is such a doll!

Tell us a little about yourself and your Naturally Curled Cutie. My name is Brooke, I’ve got 2 kids, D, 6 and my baby just turned 1 year old. D loves music, dancing, singing, school and horses. For the most part she is a girlie girl, she loves dresses, skirts, jewelry and all things girl. She does like to go outside and get dirty though. (I know exactly what you mean)

What is your current hair care routine/regimen? We shampoo once a week, and co-wash throughout the week as we need to, normally once or twice.

What's your go to quick style? We have several...pig tail braids, braid outs, buns and flat twists

Whats your all time favorite products? Our all time favorite products are definitely the natural ones. Bee Mine has a great line of natural hair care products....Luscious Moisturizer and the Curly Butter, specifically. ( I still need to try the Bee Mine these 2 are def on my list)

Any tips or tricks you would like to share? I’ve learned that covering her hair at night with a satin wrap or bonnet really helps keep her styles looking fresh.

Can you share your or your child's favorite style? Certainly. (photos attached)

What was your greatest obstacle when learning to care for and style your cuties hair? My great obstacle when it comes to D’s hair has been, and still is, cornrowing! I can’t seem to get a good technique down that works for me, her braids always turn out fuzzy. :/  ( I still have that problem sometimes don't stress its ok)

I have to say this beauty has some pretty curls!!!! Thanks for Sharing Brooke!

Sock Bun to the side!

Our first ever sock bun! Although I wanted to get a couple more days out of our inspired style, it wasn't meant to be I tried desperately to make it last longer by cowashing her hair and then applying coconut oil to her scalp and re twisting the loose twist but for some unknown reason the next morning her scalp looked like this:

I mentioned it to my fellow hair blogging mommy's and showed them this picture and they thought maybe she had scratched her head, so I left the style in for the rest of the day and it was getting worse :( well I ended up removing the style and figured I would let her hair rest for the most part for a few days.

We had an appointment and I needed something I could pull off with a quickness and still look cute so I decided to give the sock bun a try and we both loved it.

I added a flower clip which you can't see too well in this picture but I know you see my lil fat man sitting there! And this is how she has been wearing her hair for several days since she throws a fit everytime I remove the sock for the night!

not really sure what she was doing!

and last but not least that beautiful smile!
o and of course fat man again playing with a car!

Mini Braids on Boys!

Who said mini braids are just for girls?!?! I disagree Last sunday I did mini braids on Malikhi and he absolutley loves them.

After sittin for 5 hrs and braiding his hair although I didn't like them at first which is why they are all braided into 4 cornrows I was not about to take these out so we left them in and I actually am starting to like them I can wash his hair exactly the same and it makes it very easy to moisturize his ends and his scalp!

I started on freshly washed and detangled hair for this particular style I used Beautiful Curls which works wonderfully on his hair. I parted his hair into 4 sections and started at the nape of his neck and just did small parts and braids until I was finished we took a few breaks but since I started them on sunday and he had school the next day his poor little bottom was hurting lol!

Here he is before school lookin all handsome and stuff!

Over the course of the week I have used the shampoo and conditioner on the 3 oldest kids and I must say I thoroughly like everything about them I did not have to use much of either even on Malikhi's hair which is usually super thick and sucks conditioner right up in a few minutes . I only have pictures of Malic's hair after using the products Since his hair is the shortest I used the curl activating cream on him  here

This picture was taken shortly after washing and applying the leave-in and curl activator as was the one below

Notice how shiny his hair looks not only that but he does not usually let me comb his hair he jerks away quite often as soon as the comb touches his head not this time though he sat there and let me do what needed to be done.

The next morning I applied the Curl nourishing oil

Would you look at all that pretty curlage (is that even a word lol) I was very pleased with the way this made his hair look and feel did I mention all these products smell wonderful!!!!! My whole bathroom smelt like Vanilla for the rest of the day!

You can Purchase these products by visiting http://www.beautifulcurls.com/

I also did this flat twist ponytail on MaChaela after using the products on her hair, it also made her hair super soft.

I would like to Thank Beautiful Curls for this opportunity as well!

Inspired style with a slight twist!

Despite my best efforts the unthinkable has begun to happen I have noticed some breakage on the princess so we have decided no hair accessories will be on the ends of her hair for at least a month it might be longer but I'm not sure with holiday's coming up we might cheat a little! So Protective styling is in and I copied this style from Diva Locks. As soon as I saw this flat twist style I knew I had to attempt to do this on the princess here is our version!

I started on clean, detangled and moisturized hair to wash and condition I used Beautiful Curls Shampoo and Leave-in detangling conditioner review coming soon.

I proceeded to do 2 strand flat twists going to one side I did use bands at the end of the flat twists but not on the ends of her hair.

I parted the top slightly different than Diva Locks but I'm still happy with the results.

For this part I used the 3 strand twist method I'm loving the way it looked. Now as many of you know we have a hard time keeping her hair from unraveling to remedy this I used eco styler gel and twisted her ends with my fingers and they stayed all night so I think we can get a week out of this style!

You know we couldn't leave you without posting a picture of her being her silly little self

LadyBug Jane Lip Balm review & Giveaway

Let me start by saying that I'm not a big fan of using lip balm normally I usually am against the greasy feeling it leaves on my lips (makes me feel like a just ate a bucket of KFC Chicken and didn't wipe my mouth). With that being said and all negativity out of the way Ladybug Jane lip balm is different I have enjoyed using it my lips don't feel greasy after applying it and they feel soft which with the cold weather on the way is important! Not only do they use great organic ingredients to make the lip balm they are also certified vegan!

The lip balms come in 6 different flavors which are

  • Bursting Berry
  • Crazy Coconut
  • Groovy Grape
  • Sweet Strawberry
  • Vanilla Cupcake
  • Wacky Watermelon.
We tried the Sweet Strawberry and the Vanilla Cupcake they smell tremendous and I'm sure if you ask Chaela she will say they taste as good (I did catch her eating them)

If you would like more information you can visit their facebook page or their website.

To Purchase: Visit Ladybug Jane online and you can purchase the lip balms for $3.99 each

Ladybug Jane has been kind enough to sponsor a giveaway that's right you have the opportunity to win 2 flavors of your choice all you have to do is complete the mandatory entries on the rafflecopter form below after that there are extra entries you don't have to do these but it does give you a greater chance of winning!

Happy Halloween (a day late)

I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween! We sure tried but had some minor complications with costumes as the kids were being extra picky this year we decided to dress up as a theme and that theme was Alice in Wonderland!

First up we have the Mad Hatter, Malikhi was being super picky and refused to take out his braids didn't want to wear the thread arsenal, and we could not get a blazer in his size that looked good! But the hat says it all!!!

He also picked out his own shirt :\

Then we have the white rabbit that ripped his bunny ears up within an hour of trick or treating

The only one that seemed to be in full spirit was the Queen of Hearts she did not struggle with me doing her hair or anything she was super excited about everything

For her hair I just did two small cornrows in the front and added some glow in the dark beads

She played pretty tuff and her twist started messing up but do you notice they are getting thicker (YAY!!!! I'm so happy about that)

On the other side I parted a heart (first time ever so I'm very proud)

We should have had a caterpillar as well but my baby was sooo cranky he went to sleep early :( maybe he will be better next year
