Celebration Time

Today my oldest Malikhi is turning 6 it's a bittersweet moment for me as I realize my baby isn't quite a baby anymore! I'm sure all you mother's out there can relate, while it's nice to know you are raising a happy healthy child, you also realize that time is flying right by you and you can remember that sweet innocent baby that couldnt do anything for themselves. I don't want to bore you guys with me being sad and happy so I will stop blabbering and let you guys see the slideshow I made in honor of this wonderful day!

Side note-I chose this song cause it does remind me of my sweet sensitive little boy! o and who doesn't love Whitney's voice?!?!?!

First Day of School!

Ok so let's be honest for a second, we all know my braiding skills aren't where they should be I mean I do good enough to get them through a week without needin to have their hair redone. I am far from a professional (for now). So, with that being said I cheated I had a friend come and do Malikhi's hair for the first day of school. Why? you ask, well that's simple because I am having to do the princess hair 2 times this week and I pretty much felt like having someone help me. Im sure most of you know how I feel. Anyways, aren't his braids really cute? and Check out the fit. Yup! thats right dickies and a black tee can't go wrong with that! He was so excited last night when we went to meet the teacher but this morning his enthusiasm was overcome by tiredness but as he got up and started moving around the excitment settled back in! That's all for now Beautiful people! Thanks for reading and have a blessed day!

* We love feedback and your comments are always welcome!

Stolen Style update

As promised here is the update on the style that I stole from Beads, Braids, & Beyond and just as I suspected it's time to take it down already :( The plastic bands are steadily breaking off and it already looks super frizzy! No matter how much I love this style I have to let go. you can see how loose everything looks I did replace a few bands this morning cause we had an appt at 10:15 and I would not have had enough time to take her hair down and wash it so I tried my best to salvage it! I got a total of 3 days out of this style and I guess I can be happy with that as most styles don't last too long especially any kind of twist.

So now it is time to head back to the drawing bored and see what else I can come up with! Once again BBB Thanks for the inspiration!

Regis Design Line Olive Oil Shampoo & Conditioner Product Review

In my search to find a good shampoo and conditioner I found these at the salon they have at our local WalMart over the years I have used many different products and haven't found one I can say I love to wash my childrens hair keep in mind I have 4 kids so its pretty costly to buy a shampoo and conditioner that works on all their hair since they all have different textures.

Up until buying this I have had to buy different ones for each one of them, but after finding this and using it I believe this is the way to go it works great on all their hair. Let's get into the review

Shampoo: Smells good and works wonderfully
Price:$16.89
Ingredients: water (Aqua/Eau), Olea Europaena (olive leaf extract), Soduim laureth sulfate, Disoduim Cocamide MEA, Cocamidopropyl Cetaine, Pollysorbate 80, Polyquaternium-4, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, PEG 12 Dimethicone, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben
Ok so I don't know what alot of these ingredients are to be honest and I know that this isn't a natural product but I like the results I get

Conditioner: Smells good, great moisture, Leaves hair feeling very soft
Price: $17.59
Ingredients: exactly the same as the shampoo except a few extras which are Olive Oil PEG-7 Esters and Cetrimonuim Chloride

If you are looking for all natural products I wouldn't suggest these, but if you are looking for something with good moisture and something you don't have to use a lot of I would say this is they way to go. The price is a little steep but I got these on sale I spent $24 for the set

*disclaimer: I purchased these products myself and was not in any way compensated for my review all opinions are my own

Ok so I stole this but it was soooo worth it!

Doing something I do alot just looking over the other hair blogs I found this style I don't usually do twist on the Princess cause they don't stay but I figured since it had beads on it why not give it a try! I had to adapt it a little bit cause it seems my baby has a super small head :( but I still love this style on her! Thanks for the inspiration Beads Braids & Beyond! Check out her blog here for more great styles! Now to complete this I washed and detangled her hair I used coconut oil after washing to seal in the natural moisture from the water and then braided her hair so it could dry overnight! The next day I started braiding using Baby Don't b bald I believe that's what its called I received this product from Once Upon a Curl let me just say I absolutely love this product on my baby's hair makes it very soft and shiny and a little bit goes a long way! I then proceeded to do 3 cornrows on each side of her head a veil style in the middle and sister twist on  the rest! The beads I used are sparkly colored beads from walmart and the clear butterfly's were also purchased from Once Upon a Curl have I mentioned how much I love her accessories?!?! Now as much as I love this style on her I'm doubting it will last a week like most styles do I have a couple reasons for this suspicion, reason 1, the rubber bands I used were plastic since they were the only colored ones I could find around my area they started breaking pretty quick. Reason 2 I honestly don't think her hair will hold these twist too long, with that being said I will do updates throughout this week on this style, so stay tuned!

Quick Back to School styles

Back to school is here and sometimes with rushing around we don't have time to do styles that take forever I know so I am showcasing 3 very quick and easy styles. The first style is over on the right its very simple I started by parting her hair from ear to ear and placing it in 2 ponytails, then I simply did 4 braids per pony added hair accessories of her choice and went. excuse the frizz this style was a day old.

The second style is just a repost as I do keep his hair in for atleast a week very simple though it takes a little longer than the above style for girls. I started by simply parting his hair down the middle then doing 6 cornrows going straight down the side of his head took about 20-30 minutes. Also sometimes if we are in a hurry or I'm just letting his head rest from being done I will just put it into a low ponytail and braid it.
The last style I'm showcasing is also a remake just because I love this one :). I started on freshly washed and detangled hair parted a square section on the side of her head then added some cornrows the rest I left out apply curling cream of your choice put hair accessory of choice in and your done.

Day 9 How important do you think education is?

For my family its very important I didn't graduate from highschool traditionally I got my GED. It is a requirement for my kids to graduate from highschool I dont feel like you have to go to college to get a good job though it can help but this day and age they don't want newbies they want someone with experience so college just depends on them and their choices.

Daily:
  • I moisturize the diva's hair with my homemade Leave-In Conditioner Mix (distilled water, VO5 conditioner, EVOO) or with Komaza Care Califia Moisturizing Spray and I seal with Darcy's Botanical Organic Coconut & Hibiscus Natural Hair Conditioning Oil or African Royale Hot Six Oil
  • She sleeps with a satin bonnet

  • I detangle her hair while the conditioner is in using a wide tooth comb
  • I band her hair after every wash in four sections
Monthly:
  • I clarify her hair once a month using Elucence Volume Clarifying Shampoo
  • Deep Condition using Komaza Care Olive Moisture Mask with a plastic cap for an hour
  • Hot Oil Treatment using African Royale Hot Six Oil
  • I dust her ends very 8 weeks

What's your go to quick style?
One ponytail braid out or twist out

Whats your all time favorite products?
Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter, EVOO, Proclaim Olive Glossing Shampoo and Conditioner, Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel

Any tips or tricks you would like to share?
I like soak my rubber bands in oil prior to me putting them in the diva's hair. I always do protective styles and always stretch the diva's hair by banding.

Can you share your or your child's favorite style?
She loves all the styles I do, she says everyone is her favorite.

What was your greatest obstacle when learning to care for and style your cuties hair?
I have learned that what I do for my hair doesn't always work well on the diva's hair like twist outs, braid outs work much better in the diva's hair.

Thanks,
